Summary:
This position will plan, direct, manage, and oversee the activities and operations of the City Secretary's Office, including serving as liaison between the City Council and the public.
This position coordinates assigned activities with other City departments and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Mayor, City Council, and City Manager.
It is responsible for all paperwork pertaining to official business of the City Council, and for implementation of the City's records management program; is responsible for carrying out the duties related to city elections.
This position also ensures compliance with state and federal law, city policy and ordinances, and the City Charter.
Position involves regular contact with the public in situations that affect the accomplishment of the job at hand, and requires considerable tact and diplomacy.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Management, or related field, preferred but not required; A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of the following functional areas, managing or facilitating open records; compliance with the Texas Public Information Act and Open Meetings Act.
Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in successfully performing the essential functions of the job.
Certification as Texas Registered Municipal Clerk.
Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of Texas.
Ability to obtain a Notary Public license within one month of hire.
